Cruthu Arts Festival
A six day festival from July 26th to July 31st where visitors, local, national and international will enjoy the temporary art galleries in Longford town, experience live free music performances and street art and attend theatre, music and literature events.
I took part in this Festival for 2 summers, 2017 and 2018. I was chosen from my school to take part in this project. I was spray painting a wall mural that I created and planned out myself with the assistance from artist Phil Atkinson.
Backstage Youth Theatre (BYT)
BYT was founded in 1995 and is a 100% voluntary run group. Membership is for young people aged 13 to 18 and is drawn mainly from County Longford. BYT’s main fundraiser is their annual pantomime in January. BYT performs all their own original scripts and engage a professional director each summer to produce a play in collaboration with Backstage Theatre. In May, BYT usually produces a charity fundraiser for which members write, direct, perform, choreograph, dance, sing, and play music. BYT is a social group that likes to perform.
I was a member of BYT during my teenage years while I was in Secondary school. I performed in Pantos and summer productions.
